How to start a simple skincare routine

K-beauty did not invent skincare. It did invent a very effective export: the idea that more steps are automatically more sophisticated. That is a shopkeeper's idea, not a chemist's. If you are starting from a bathroom that currently holds a cleanser and a moisturizer from the chemist, you do not need a fourteen-step diagram. You need an order of operations.

The only order that matters

Morning: cleanse if you need to, treat if you have a reason, moisturize, sunscreen. Evening: take the sunscreen off properly, treat if you have a reason, moisturize. Essence, toner, ampoule, sheet mask are hydration layers. They are optional. They are not morally superior.

If a bottle cannot explain what it is for in one sentence, it is not a beginner product. It is a collection.

Cleanse like an adult

Hydration is a layer, not a personality

Mixsoon Bean Essence is the optional extra for people who enjoy a short INCI. It is not mandatory. Neither is ginseng water. If you add one hydrating bottle and your face looks less creased by lunch, you have understood the genre.

Treatments are not the starting line

Niacinamide, retinal, ascorbic acid: add them when the boring steps are stable. Geek and Gorgeous is the European shortcut. C-Glow in the morning after you already tolerate sunscreen. A-Game 5 at night twice a week. The Inkey List versions exist and work. They are not more beginner for being cheaper; they are just cheaper.
